3/4 Mark

Hey all!

As the final quarter of the year begins, we come to the end of our social calendar. The most notable event to come is Reflections. The stage is set for one of the most memorable formal events CSES has thrown yet! Make sure to watch for the posters and ticket sales in Leo's for the Reflections Dinner and/or Dance. Also keep an ear to the ground for information on IT!

For those who came out to Valentine's Day Pub, I hope you had as good a time as Bern and I did. I was awesome to see so many new faces out enjoying the V-D celebration. We have to send a thank you out to Prof. Marsland and Zalok for making an appearance and making the event that much better for everyone. Thanks again for the nachos Ehab!

Anywho, give Bern a shout at social[at]cses[dot]carleton[dot]ca if you want to get more information and anything social!

Your Faithful Social Director,
Andrew 'Sportsock' Harte

Blogger-Man

Hey Peeps!

So Whirlwind just past and was a huge success. Let us know how you liked it and any recommendations for next year. Reflections is under way and that should be en even bigger success!

Another event thats coming up in the next week is the Fall VAP (Volunteer Appreciatation Party). Any one that volunteered for CSES this term should come out for a fun time at Christophers (680 Brookfield Rd, 117 from campus and get off on the other side of the Canada Post buildings near Riverside) There are some great deals to be had an tickets for volunteers. More information can be seen on the Facebook event (http://carletoncanada.facebook.com/event.php?eid=6304884901) or from the CSES Executive. See you there!

NOW for the big one! Engineering Week (E-Week) is fast approaching. This event will run from Jan. 7-12. There will be information sessions for CSES, stream societies and any other major groups within C-Eng. We will also have competitions, hopefully some from each of the stream societies and also will have the First Annual CSES Snowman Competition!! There will be a bar night and the CSES Bonspiel (curling tournament) will end the week. The First Year Conference will take place and possibly have a Diversity Movie night as well. So keep you eyes and ears open for more information. Information is also available on the Facebook event (http://carletoncanada.facebook.com/event.php?eid=8688260873) and you can also contact me, Andrew 'Sportsock' Harte at advisory[at]cses[dot]carleton[dot]ca.

Thats it for now.

Cheers.

Long Time No Chat

Good Day All!

My mind was in overdrive so I decided to stay up, chill out on the CSES Laptop and do some minutes from the past two meetings... and possibly update a blog or what not. Really put the CSES resources to some good use.

Anywho, Social has been flying a mile a minute lately getting things all ready for Whirwind and the Fall Volunteer Appreciation Party (VAP). Whirlwind is almost sold out (2/3 gone) with only a few day left before we jump and jive the night away at the Legion down on Kent St. Fall VAP is being organized and looks to be happening on November 29th at a very friendly establishment a few of the Executive have been frequenting as of late. Should be good times.

Another great thing to come out of the Social Portfolio is the plan for E-Week! You might have seen this listed on the CSES calendar or in the Passports, but heres the scoop. The first week back in January, 7th to 12th, we will be running events all week in conjunction with other engineering societies and groups to get everyone back into the groove and having fun. There will also be a few competitions and some good times ending with the 2nd Annual CSES Bonspiel (curling)! So if you would like to help out or throw an event, let us know (social@cses.carleton.ca or advisory@cses.carleton.ca).

As always, give us a shout if you have any questions.

Doings and Transpirings of Social

Yo Yo Folks!

Events are starting to roll out, and as a favour to you, we've lumped them all during midterms.

Ok, thats not true, thats just what ended up happening. Maybe you should write to the Government or Hallmark and get Hallowe'en moved so its more convenient. Just a thought.

So, on the scorecard we have:

EngFrosh Reunion: Oct. 19th, 6pm Minto Lobby. Tickets are in Leo's for $10. Only 80-ish left.
Yuk Yuk's: Oct. 24th, 6pm, Minto Lobby. Tickets are in Leo's for $5. Only 30 available.
Hallowe'en Walk: Oct. 31st, 1pm, Minto Lobby. Bring Self, Costume and Candy Sack.

Whirlwind planning is under way, as Bern acquired herself a Formal Events Director, a Miss Haley Aberdeen. So keep an eye out for those details.

I think thats it...

EngFrosh Reunion!!

Yes, the title is correct. There is a reunion. Keep reading for more details.

We will be heading to the Ottawa 67's game vs the Peterborough Petes on Friday October 19th! This has been a tradition going on many years, where we may or may not harass the players with funny names. The other tradition (other then going to a 67's game and heckling) is to make the arena sway with our dancing and jumping.

Trust me its a hoot... type... dealy... Tickets are on sale in Leo's as of riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight... Now!

On a side note, I'd like to thank everyone who showed up to EngBowl this year. We had more people out there playing Ultimate and Soccer then the past 3 or 4 years combined! I had a great time and was nice to get to see a lot of the frosh again.

So first years, keep leading the charge on Social events and don't forget to drag those lazy upper years along for the ride!
